The Worthing College Sports Performance Programme were looking to make it a clean sweep of their squads making County Cup finals this season. With the two Men’s Football and Women’s 1st XI Football squads already in their respective finals it was the turn of the Netball and Rugby Under 18’s programmes to see if they could add to the three finals with Worthing College representation.

Hallsy’s Weekly Look Around the Academy – Big Day for the Programme…

This week saw many of the Worthing College Sports Performance Programmes in make or break matches in their seasons and they came out on top to continue the Colleges’ fine season up to now.

The Rugby Performance Programme took on Oaklands College in the Last 8 of the British Colleges’ National Cup at Worthing Leisure Centre. Worthing started brightly and took the game to their illustrious opponents and eventually reached an unassailable lead, eventually coming out 32-0 winners. Try scorers on the day were Declan Peake, Adam Fastnedge & Jack Roberts. Barney Lyons kicked the extras. Performance Coach Ben Coulson was extremely pleased with the players efforts and is looking forward to the Semi Final at home to Myerscough College of Preston “The boys were all fantastic today, which they have been all season. They fully deserve this next game against a College, who are heavily linked with Sale Sharks and it will be great to see how far these players have come in their time with us. This is what the Performance Programme is all about, players developing their individual and team intelligence, which can surely only develop against teams such as Myerscough.”
