Worthing College vs BHASVIC – ESFA U18 Cup

We travelled to Saltdean, to play a solid BHASVIC team. Due to injuries, we unfortunately could only field 10 players and had a replacement goalkeeper. A strong start allowed us the momentum to start a counter attack and capitalise on the weak defence, where Jazz Younger (goalkeeper) played in Sophie who used her strength to muscle the ball away from the defender and get a shot away. This happened twice early on in the first half, giving us a healthy lead. We conceded an unlucky goal just before the start of the first half, but it didn’t knock our confidence. Going into the second half, we were under pressure, but against the run of play, scored a 3rd from our attacking power and speed. It was a tense half, conceding 2 unfortunate goals 10 minutes before the end if the game. A brilliant tackle, lead to a quality breakaway and a superb finish past the opposition keeper. We remained strong and relaxed, confidently winning the game 4-3.

Coach John Meeney commented “the attitude, work ethic, togetherness was so strong and to be admired… so proud of the girls”. It was a quality performance from every player, with some great goals, 3 from Sophie Humphrey and 1 from Beth Kincaid.
