Greens 64 – 26 Chichester College

Worthing College 2nd XV (affectionately known as the Greens) hosted Chichester College on a wet and windy Wednesday afternoon at HQ. There had been a bit of a gap between this and the last game, so it was good to get the boots on and get on the paddock for a competitive run out.

Both sides had been hit by injuries and unavailabilities so it was going to be an interesting match with players missing in key positions, time for heroes to step up.

Worthing started at an incredible pace and were up by 12 points within 8mins. Decarteret and Atanasov crossing and Sanderson with the extras.

The ‘Big Mo’ seemed to be with the Greens as they played down the slope into the south westerly. Adding phase on phase to challenge the visitors defence, which was manful all day if not always successful.

More tries followed from Decarteret and Bianchi before the half, with Sanderson adding a more from the boot. Although Chichester were coming more into the game and showing some of the power, pace and skill that had been curtailed in the early exchanges. This was rewarded just before the half with two tries.

At the half Worthing were leading 29-12.

The second half started with the Greens running up hill with a reasonably strong breeze at their back. The second half proceeded much as the first. Lots of attacking rugby from both sides, great defence and huge amounts of endeavour.

Worthing added more tries and conversions as did Chichester leading to a final score of 64-26 Greens.

Tries: Decarteret 5, Hicken, Bianchi 2, Atanasov, B Smith

Cons: Sanderson 7

MoM: Torricelli
