On Saturday Worthing College Netball squad travelled to Brighton University to play the Sussex Round of National Schools and defend their title. They started very well against Mayfield School winning 17-1 with some great defensive work by Iona, Charlotte and Grace. The second match was against Brighton College who always have a strong team. Worthing did not let the opposition settle and with some great shooting from Betsy and feeds from Bethen, Holly and Phoebe, the girls won 13-4.

netballnationalschools action 1Wins against Sackville (16-10), Seaford College (16-3), Ardingly (14-2) and Lancing College (19-3) and some great play from the squad ensured a quarter final place against Collyers. Good defensive play once again by Iona, Charlotte, Eli and Grace created numerous chances for Betsy and Lexie – Worthing winning 12-3.

The semi final was against Eastbourne College who had looked impressive in their group. The Worthing College stepped up once again and played some great netball winning 15-3.

netball national schools action 2The final was against Brighton College who had defeated Hurst in their semi final. One final push for the College girls and they continued to dominate throughout the match. All 9 of the squad played their part in the final and Worthing won convincingly 14-5 to book their place in the Regional Round at the end of January.

Coach Tina Price was really impressed by the whole squad and delighted with their performance throughout the day.
