WORTHING COLLEGE NETBALL TEAM WIN THE SUSSEX CUP

Netball Sussex Cup final huddleWorthing College netball 1st team travelled to Burgess Hill Girls School for the U19 Sussex Cup final against Brighton College. After beating Sussex Downs, Christ Hospital, BHASVIC and Hurst to reach the final the girls were looking forward to the afternoon.

Worthing started off well with the defensive unit of Iona, Charlotte and Kira proving too strong for the Brighton College attack, turning over numerous balls enabling our attack to score – qtr time 12-3 Worthing. In the second quarter Brighton stepped up and closed down the space making it difficult for the Worthing team – half time was 23-11.Netball sussex Cup Kira

In the second half coach Tina introduced Ashlene at wa and Holly at wd to introduce some fresh legs. Liv and Shelby were working well in attack and shooting well, defensively we were still working hard to increase the lead – 37-19 at the end of the third quarter. Going into the final quarter the girls continued to work well and closed out the match winning 47-24. The squad now move on to play in the National Schools Finals on Saturday at Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire where they represent the South East playing the top 18 Schools and Colleges in the Country, good luck everyone!
