WORTHING COLLEGE MEN’S BASKETBALL V COLLYERS – A – L 83-54

Worthing College men’s basketball team travelled to Collyers in the Dynamik League.

Fernando opened the Worthing scoring in the opening minute with a 3pt shot but Collyers stopped Worthing scoring for 5 minutes after as they went on a 12-0 run early in the game. Tom Swindells broke the scoring drought with a 2pt jump shot from the corner. Worthing picked up momentum late in the quarter as Fernando and Matt both scored contested lay ups to help keep the game within reach. Collyers 26 v 9 Worthing end of 1st.

2nd Quarter

Matt began the 2ndquarter by scoring a lay up as he was fouled and completed the 3pt play by scoring the free throw. Matt scored 7pts in a row for Worthing as they went on a 7-0 run early in the 2nd. Worthing played excellent team basketball on offence and attempted to chip away at the score deficit with Reece, Ariel, Jonah and Tom also getting on the score sheet in the 2nd, Collyers 48 v 29 Worthing Half Time.

3rd Quarter

Jonah started the 2nd half strong by playing excellent half court defence and scoring a lay-up inside. Fernando went 3/3 from the 3pt line in this period but Collyers fast break offence proved too much for Worthing as they struggled to stop the home side on the counter. Collyers 74 v 44 Worthing end of 3rd.

4th Quarter

The 30pt deficit was a tough ask for Worthing to overcome, but they gave 100% effort until the end. James Simper closed the scoring for Worthing with a free throw. Collyers 83 V 54 Worthing Final Score.
