.The sun was out for the Sussex League fixture between the Greens and Chichester College at the Sanditon Arena on Wednesday afternoon. Both teams entering the match fresh from the Xmas break looking to get the second half of the season underway in a positive way. Everyone in attendance will concur with the view that it was a great game and players from both sides shone in equal measure.
The Greens started much the stronger and it was Leamon scoring his first try in college colours. Cade was unable to add the extras 5-0. Worthing continued to pressure and when the tempo of the game was kept high, they looked dangerous.
The backs beneficiaries of the industrious forwards, with Cade, Lean and Lansley challenged the defence in mid field and created space for Tomlinson, Leamon and Hodson to run. The Greens looked dangerous every time they moved the ball, but Chi manfully defended and kept the score down to 17-5 at the half.
Chichester always looked dangerous with the ball in the hands of the big forwards and Worthing tried hard to manage the threat.
A strong kicking game and tempo kept Worthing ahead before Chichester scored two tries on the come back. Greens leading with 15mins to go 29-17.
Entering the final 5mins a great counter attack from Tomlinson passed the ball to Lansley and he put Chidamwoyo to add the sixth try for the Greens. Cade added the extras 34-17.
A great game with both sides giving everything they had to the cause.
