The next group match was against Peter Symonds – the current champions and the 3rd time we have played them this season. The match went goal for goal with some excellent play by both teams. Phillippa and Bethen were shooting superbly and a crucial interception by Kira enabled Worthing to take the lead. Great feeding by Cally and Liv meant that Worthing took the win – 13-10.

Collyers were the next opponents and proved to be a tough opposition. 4-4 at half time coach Tina switched Ashlene into the wa position who made an instant impact driving out well and feeding the ball straight into the circle, final score 10-6.

The semi final was against Itchen College who had a strong team. The Worthing girls stuck to their game plan of constant pressure down the court and in the first half took a lead of 5-3. In the second half the girls continued to shoot and defend well – final score 11-8 to Worthing.

The final was against Peter Symonds again and what a close game it was. Symonds started off well and took a 4 goal lead at half time. Coach Tina gave a final pep talk to her girls and introduced Livvy into centre. Immediately Charlotte got a crucial interception which we scored from, 2 down. A mistake by Symonds enabled Worthing to capitalise again, scores level. Constant pressure from the Worthing team forced another turnover which Iona grabbed and Bethen scored. Two up with 30 seconds to play, Symonds scored in the final seconds but Worthing won the final 12-11!!
