Worthing College netball 1st team travelled to Peter Symonds for the second time in two weeks, this time for the AOC National Cup. The game started well for Worthing taking a 3-0 lead but Symonds put relentless pressure on throughout the court coming back into the game. Bethen and Livvy were shooting well and the end of the 1st qtr was 12-10 to Symonds.
The second quarter Holly was introduced at wa and immediately drove out well for a centre pass. Iona and Charlotte were working tirelessly in defence making it difficult for their tall goal shooter to set up. Unfortunately the Worthing girls made a few errors throughout the court which Symonds capitalised on – half time 28-17 to Symonds.
In the 3rd quarter coach Tina introduced Kyra at wd and Phillippa to gs moving Bethen to ga, Livvy to centre and Kira to wa. This had a positive impact with Phillippa and Bethen shooting at 100% and defensively we turned over a few balls to get back into the match. Iona was doing her utmost to win the ball in defence and it was paying off. Worthing won the qtr by 1 trailing 39-29 going into the final quarter.
The final quarter was equally as close and the Worthing players never gave up, working so hard to win every ball with the shooters maintaining their shooting accuracy. The final score was Peter Symonds 50 Worthing 39 but coach Tina was so proud of all the players for the way they continued to work so hard throughout the court, never giving up.
Players of the match were Bethen House and Charlotte Stacey, outstanding performances.
