WORTHING COLLEGE WOMEN’S FOOTBALL V BARNET & SOUTHGATE – A – L 4-3

Barnet & Southgate v Worthing College in the ECFA Premier League.

Barnet started the game off on top moving the ball quickly and having a few shots at goal. Barnet scored their first goal with a shot from long distance that went over the keeper’s head. After that Worthing had a couple of chances to score with Skye making great runs down the left hand side but they weren’t able to convert. 

Barnet then scored again with a low cross into the box and a tap in at the back post. For the next 10 minutes or so Worthing stuck to their shape and were hard to break down but unfortunately let in another goal from the right hand side that went in near post. Worthing went into half time 3-0 down.

Worthing started the second half strongly with Sara scoring her first goal with a left footed volley that flew past the keeper from a corner. After that Worthing stuck to their shape and won the ball back and attacked quickly scoring a second goal 2 minutes later with Sara scoring from a long range effort outside the box. Worthing then won a penalty and Sara stepped up, calmly slotting past the keeper in the bottom right hand corner. 

Worthing continued to create chances with one shot from Sara that crossed the line but wasn’t given by the referee but Worthing still created enough chances to win the game. However, Barnet and Southgate had one last attack and were able to score in the last minute of the game with a long range effort that went into the top right corner. 

With the game ending 4-3 to Barnet and Southgate, Worthing still put in a good second half performance and were unlucky not to win it.
