Worthing College had 23 students qualify for the AOC National Championships held at Nottingham University last weekend representing the South East in women’s football, women’s rugby and tennis. They competed all weekend against the other 8 regions producing some great performances and results.
Our tennis players were outstanding throughout the whole weekend. Helen Skingley and Ryan Young were a formidable pairing in the mixed doubles and teamed up well with the other players from Peter Symonds to make up the South East team. They did not lose a match and came away as Gold Medal winners, a brilliant achievement.
The women’s footballers were defending their Silver Medal from last year and had a mixed weekend of results. They had some great wins but some losses as well to finish 5th overall, Beth Roe was outstanding for Worthing.
The women’s rugby players had some great results winning 50-0 in one game but lost to a quality Welsh team and after a couple of injuries they finished 4th overall.
A great weekend was had by everyone and the South East won the Wilkinson Sword trophy as the winning region overall.
