After a long layoff the Worthing College AoC XI rose to 2nd in the Category 2 South East League after a comprehensive 4-1 win away with Berkshire against the Charlie Austin Academy.
Worthing played the conditions superbly, which were difficult in terms of the playing surface, but Worthing stuck to their task admirably. Notable performances came from Noah Horne at the back and striker Keiran Denyer, who scored two goals to take his tally to 7 goals in three starts for the AoC squad. The other goalscorers on the day were Luke Rutherford and Sam Cairns to top off a very professional performance.
Performance Coach Jimmy Punter was pleased with the sides performance “the players really applied themselves today very well. They played the conditions excellently and this shows in the chances created and the goals scored. Its great to see that the squad can more than compete at Category 2 level and move into 2nd in the league with leaders Chichester to play it shows that these players have had a excellent grounding as part of their future football development.”
