WORTHING COLLEGE WOMEN’S FOOTBALL V NEWMAN – SUSSEX CUP SEMI FINAL – W 6-0

Worthing traveled to the Rookery for their fixture against the newly formed Newman-lewes Academy. After 12 minutes of good play from both teams, Worthing got their first thanks to Sara Tubby when a defensive mistake from Newman gave Sara the chance to calmly slot it past their keeper. Worthing had chance after chance, great passing between Jodie Pallant and Annie Rolf gave Pallant the chance to make it 2-0 but couldn’t convert. However it was Annie Rolf who scored the second for Worthing after a superb run from Keavy Booker who played the ball into Annie’s path, she then had no problem putting the ball past the Newman goalkeeper. Half time 2-0. Shortly after the whistle, Sara capitalised on a misplaced pass, beat their keeper to make it 3-0. On the 55th minute mark Worthing had a corner, a great delivery gave Keavy Booker the chance to make it 4-0, and she did, a calm volley into the bottom corner gave worthing their fourth. Seconds later Sara Tubby scored her 3rd of the day after a good pass from Niamh Andersson led her through on goal. Not long after, Valentine Pursey scored her first and Worthing’s final goal when an error in Newmans defence which gave her the opportunity to cooly slot it home for 6. Worthing kept working hard in the remaining minutes of the game and could have got more, with chances for Niamh and a disallowed goal for Abi Mason.

Final score Worthing 6 Newman 0.
