On Monday Worthing College netball 1st team hosted Hurst in the semi final of the Sussex U19 Cup. The girls knew they would be in for a tough game and they weren’t wrong! The first quarter the Worthing team did not really get out of gear and gave Hurst too much room letting them drive through the court on numerous occasions – end of qtr 1 was 3-16. In the second quarter Kira and Cally started to get some great interceptions in defence and our shots started to go in – half time was 9-30.

In the second half Worthing started to play some excellent netball. The introduction of Lucy at ga injected some extra pace and Yasmin started to find her range shooting exceptionally well. We only lost this quarter by 3 – 23-47. In the final quarter the girls did not give up and Lauren Rippon had a great game at wa driving out well for every centre pass. The squad continued to press Hurst and the final score was 31-62.

A great team performance against a very strong and talented Hurst side, never giving up and playing some of the best netball we have seen all season.

Player of the match was Yasmin Payne, superb shooting particularly in the second half.
