Worthing College netballers took on Steyning 1st team in the Sussex League today. The girls started really well, Anna getting out for the centre passes with both Phillippa and Maddy converting the goals with ease.Defensively with Ruth and Lucy marking so tightly,Β Isobel and Charlotte putting pressure on the passes, Steyning struggled to get the ball into the circle and the first quarter ended 10-2 to Worthing.

The second quarter Yo was introduced as centre and Worthing continued to dominate but the game got a little scrappy – half time was 15-6 to Worthing.

The third quarter the girls lost concentration and made some unforced errors allowing Steyning to have the opportunity to get back into the game. Defensively we intercepted the ball on numerous occasions and only let in 2 goals but in attack we could not capitalise – 3 quarter time was 18-8.

In the final quarter Worthing juggled the team around but that did not work so well. The girls were always in control however and won the match 24-17.

Player of the match was Lucy Hawkins.
