Worthing started in the group stages along with Chichester, Godalming, Reigate, Portsmouth, Strode and Richard Taunton. Worthing started positively, defending well and making some great chances. Because of some great play and hard work, Worthing topped their group winning all of their matches.
We were to play Farnborough in the semifinal. It was a tight game, with Farnborough going 1nil up. However, Worthing turned it around, winning 2-1, meaning we progressed to the final where we met a strong Itchen side. With some good chances made, Worthing couldn’t find the net. After both halves had been played it was still 0-0, leading to penalties. Worthing kept their nerve winning the penalty shoot out 4-3. Due to Worthing winning the tournament, they progress to the National finals in Nottingham for the second successive year representing the South East. Worthing did not lose a game in the whole tournament and only conceded 3 goals. Everybody played exceptionally well. A good day all round.
