Worthing hosted Seevic College on Wednesday in the 3rd round of the ECFA under 18s cup. Both teams began well with some good link up play between the sides, however it wasn’t long until Seevic’s centre forward found the back of the net after a long range shot. 1-0. Worthing soon bounced back when Niamh Andersson won the ball on the edge of the box, a powerful shot then sees Worthing equalise, 1-1. Seevic then retaliated, however, great defending from Keavy Booker and Megan Mcready shut down the threat, Worthing then begin to counter attack, a great ball from Beth Roe sees Sara Tubby through on goal, Sara beats the keeper to send Worthing 2-1 up just before the half time whistle. The second half was filled with great opportunities for both teams, having said this, Worthing were the team to score the first of this half, with a lovely ball from Niamh Andersson, Linda Robart brings it down and beats the defence to cooly slot it home, 3-1. Linda Robart had many more chances in the half, after beating Seevic’s midfield and defence, her shot is fired bottom right but is unfortunately saved by the goal keeper. Seevic soon built up the pressure with some long balls over the top toward their right winger but they couldn’t convert. That is until a misplaced pass caused their central midfielder to pick up possession in the middle of the park, and with an unstoppable shot, Seevic now have 2. Worthing managed to hold off a great Seevic midfield for the last remaining minutes. Final score 3-2. Worthing victory!
