Worthing started the game of slowly, they had a couple of chances but Molly pulled out some top draw saves to keep Worthing in the game. After an error through the middle of Worthing’s defence led to Barnet going 1-0 up within 20 minutes. This made Worthing fight back and the battle between Worthing’s midfield paid off when some good play from Niamh to find Sara out wide who managed to get a cross into the box for Annie to run onto and finish first time. Worthing kept the pressure on Barnet by ensuring they tried to find Sara as quickly as possible allowing them to get up the pitch quickly. By 30 mins worthing were awarded a corner, Niamh played it short to Annie who hit it into the box for Valentine to run onto making the score 2-1 Worthing. Barnet were continuous with their pressure on Worthing which unfortunately led to them getting a goal to bring it 2-2 at half time.
Worthing had a strong start to the second half and continued with trying to find the forward pass quickly. After the midfield 3 of Holly, Annie and Valentine worked on trying to support play Barnet managed to find a ball over the top of Worthing’s midfield and defence into their centre forward who unfortunately got a tap in after a brilliant first save from Jacqui-Anne. Worthing continued to play at high tempo trying to pull back another goal. Jacqui-Anne and Keavy pulled off a double save on the goal line to keep Worthing in the game. They then scored another goal to make it 4-2 with 15 minutes left to play. Worthing kept pressing and putting them under pressure. Worthing picked the ball up from the half way line. Annie was outside the 18 yard box and the shot ended up in the top left corner with 10 minutes left. Worthing kept the pressure on for the remainder of the game put unfortunately couldn’t get the ball in to the back of the net to make it level. The final score was 4-3.
