Worthing entered this friendly with an experimental line up including a number of combination changes from previous weeks. The mixture of front row and backs making up the numbers in the forwards became a part of the strength of this particular performance.
The Blues started brightly and had scored before the first two minutes were up. Holloway-Hudson completing the excellent score following interplay between numerous Worthing players. The conversion was made from out wide with Sanderson continuing his great form from the tee. Worthing 7-0.
More pressure was exerted by the Blues but they were unable to make the territory and possession pay until late in the half when Tomlinson went over, this again added to by Sanderson. 14-0 Worthing.
There was much huffing and puffing in the second half but no houses were blown down as defences, mistakes and a subsequent inability to build pressure reduced scoring chances. That was until late in the game, Oaklands found an extra gear and made their forays into the Worthing 22 count. The Blues resisted pressure for a number of phases but ultimately the line was breached. Converted by Oaklands to make a 14-7 score line with 5mins to go.
The Blues showed some very good ball retentions skills and managed to run the clock down before clearing the ball into the trees allowing the referee to call fun time.
Worthing winning their third game on the bounce at the start of the season.
