WORTHING COLLEGE WOMEN’S FOOTBALL V EASTERN & OTLEY – A – W7-1

ECFA Premier League – Easton & Otley College 1 – Worthing College 7

Worthing started the game off with good possession and lots of chances from Annie Rolf, Valentine Pursey and Sara Tubby. However, none reached the back of the net. After a lot of pressure on the Eastern and Otley College defence Worthing were rewarded with a corner. Annie passed the ball short to Valentine who then played it back for Annie to deliver into the box, the ball was cleared but only to find Valentine who hit it first time and finally found the net and passed the Eastern and Otley college goalie. Worthing kept on the pressure with only a few threats to their goal from Eastern and Otley college who were unable to test the Worthing’s Goal keeper. After some good passes Valentine found herself in some space and picked her pass through to Sara who had made some good movement to create herself some space and time to slot the ball calmly past the keeper. The score was now 2-0. After some misplaced passes by Worthing Eastern and Otley College found themselves with an opportunity to punish Worthing, in which they did with the ball finding the bottom left corner. The first half ended 2-1 to Worthing.

Eastern and Otley College started off the second half, Worthing had clearly stepped up a gear since the break as they regained the foothold in the game. With Worthing still pressing high and putting pressure on the Eastern and Otley College defence it wasn’t long until they got another. Valentine again finding some space on the edge of the box, buried the ball bottom right. The score now 3-1. Worthing looking comfortable in the game with not much threat from the Eastern and Otley College counter-attack. Abi found herself on the ball just inside the Eastern and Otley College half, she gained some ground and then found Valentine who was making a run across the Eastern and Otley defensive line. Valentine then calmly placed the ball in the back of the net. The score now 4-1. Some good link up play and more chances coming from Annie and Abi. Some good possession from the back 4 of Worthing’s defence then found Valentine who passed the ball through to Annie who easily slotted the ball past the Norwich goalie. The score now 5-1. Some through balls through from the Eastern and Otley college defence tried to find there No.9 but were unable to threaten Molly in the Worthing goal. Some good link up play between Holly and Valentine found Worthing with some time on the ball where Annie again made a run which Valentine saw and found her feet, she took her chance on goal but was denied by the Eastern and Otley goalie but not completely cleared as Annie found Sara waiting in the penalty area and she hit it into the back of the net making no mistakes. The score 6-1. Not long left of the second half Worthing looked comfortable within the game. With some good passes between Brooke, Abi and Holly, Abi took her chances with a shot just outside the penalty area and found the top right corner to finish off the game 7-1 to Worthing.
