A great afternoon for a game of netball outside at Barton Peveril with the sun shining. This week the 2nd team were without shooter Yasmin Payne due to injury which gave Jasmine the chance to start at GS, the only other change to the team who won so well last week was Faye Murton in at centre.
The game started very evenly for the first 7 mins with each team scoring off their centre pass, Worthing then stepped up a gear and there was a brilliant interception from Ruth when she jumped to intercept a ball, the height she got was truly amazing. Probably the moment of the match. Work rate from Worthjing was excellent and court play very slick. Quarter time 12-7 Worthing.
Chyna came on to replace Ruth and Charlotte Lloyd went to GS, Jasmine to GA. This was the quarter that Worthing really took the game away, accurate shooting from Charlotte and Jasmine, coupled with excellent defence from Rebecca and Emily limited Barton’s scoring to 4 whilst we doubled our goals – half time score 24-13.
Unfortunately Charlotte had to leave the court at half time with her ongoing problem of shin splints, not having another shooter in the team, her sister Rebecca bravely stepped up to the mark and swapped from GD to GA, Ruth coming back on at WD and Chyna moved to GD.
Understandably the goals were not in abundance during the last half of the game but the girls continued to work extremely well from the back going forwards and the game was never in any doubt. Jasmine held her nerve as GS and defensively Emily shone. Faye continued to work extremely hard at centre getting a number of interceptions and was always free to support the attack.
Great team performance girls, fitness is definitely improving which is good to see and the improvement in play since September is there to be seen.
