WORTHING COLLEGE NETBALL 1ST TEAM V BARTON PEVERIL – A – W 44-36

Worthing’s 1st team played Barton Peveril in the Hampshire League on a lovely sunny day in Eastleigh. The girls got off to a great start defending well throughout the court with some accurate shooting by Katy and Beth, 1st quarter ended 13-11. In the 2nd quarter our defence of Laura and Lucy played very well getting numerous rebounds and bringing the ball down court well. Boo got out well on centre passes and linked nicely with Sophie and Beth, Gemma marked the wa very tightly and Katy continued to shoot well, half time score 26-19.

We had a little wobble on the 3rd quarter losing the first 5 centre passes and Barton got back within 2 goals. Laura managed to get two crucial interceptions which Katy converted to settle the team again and they managed to keep the 8 goal lead, 3rd quarter 35-27.

The final quarter had moments of brilliance but also patches of inconsistent play but the team held together to draw the quarter and come away with a 44-36 win against a quality Barton team. Great defensive pressure by all players throughout the game.
