WORTHING COLLEGE WOMEN’S FOOTBALL V BROCKENHURST – A – W 15-1

Hampshire League – Worthing College 15-1 Brockenhurst College.

The game started brightly for Worthing, and within the first minute Jodie Pallant got on the score sheet following great combination play of one touch passing. A second goal came shortly after as Jodie picked up her second goal, taking advantage of the goalkeeper’s mistake and poking the ball home. Jodie later picked up her hatrick after Valentine Pursey’s strike hit the post and Jodie was able to slot the ball into an empty net. Worthing kept dominating possession throughout the first half and the fourth goal eventually came from Hayley Bridge who calmly found the net after taking the ball round the goalkeeper. Annie Rolf found the back of the net for the 5th goal after a great through ball from Valentine. Brockenhurst however didn’t give up and their efforts paid off, near the end of the first half a weak back pass enabled their striker to slide the ball into the corner of the net. Just before the half time whistle, Sara Tubby got on the scoresheet following a corner from Jodie where Sara unexpectedly put the ball into the net using her face. HT 6-1.

Worthing started the second half much like the first half, Worthing kept the pressure on Brockenhurst and it wasn’t long until they found the back of the net again. Hayley Bridge got her second goal of the game, by making a positive run into the box and finishing with ease. Sara Tubby also scored her second of the game not long after by cutting inside and placing the ball into the net beyond the reach of the keeper. A corner from Jodie led to the ninth goal of the game as Annie hit a superb volley in to the top corner. A minute later Annie completed her hatrick when she calmly slotted the ball pass the keeper after completing an amazing individual run. Valentine was the next person to get on the scoresheet with a low shot within the 18 yard box that gave the Brockenhurst keeper no chance. The next goal of the game came from Rebekah Dunt who took on the defender and slid the ball into the bottom corner. Charlotte Hoskins also got on the score sheet after she side footed the ball into the bottom left corner. Although Brockenhurst didn’t have much possession they were always positive and refused to give up, making it hard for Worthing to find a way through at times. Rebekah Dunt scored her second of the game after battling against the Brockenhurst defence, and she cooly slotted the ball into the bottom right hand corner. The final goal of the game came from Danielle Rowe who got on the end of a great Hayley Bridge cross, to score a fantastically executed volley making the final score 15-1. Worthing still attacked and put pressure on the opposition with late chances coming from Megan McCready and Jodie Pallant. Overall a very good team performance from Worthing who had eight different people getting on the score sheet.
