Women’s football Hampshire Cup final between Worthing College v Itchen College, Southampton University.

BHAWFC started on the front foot and within 10 mins went 1-0 up from Hayley Bridge, bottom right finish with a great assist from Chloe Lelliot. Itchen carried on to put the pressure on when number 14 was causing problems and with 5 minutes to go before half time Itchen broke through the central pair Emily Baker and Chloe Lelliot to make it 1-1. The 2nd half started and both teams weren’t giving up without a fight. It was end to end stuff Itchen were finding it hard to break down BHA defensive shape. A chance came close when Caroline Hodgson delivered a superb corner and Emily Baker missed it when it was an open chance. Both teams were working hard but with 10 minutes to go BHA were powering on and when Hayley received the ball on the left wing and drove forward, she beat a player and played a cross in for Caz to get on the end of with a brilliant finish bottom left.

Victory for the Worthing College team with their first major Cup win of the season. Coach James Marrs was delighted with the team’s performance and is looking forward to the Sussex Cup final on Wed 6th May v BHASVIC.
