Worthing College v John Madejski ECFA National League
Again for the second week running Worthing were only playing with 11 players due to injury and availability so no-one could blame them if they struggled against Reading. That wasn’t the case, Worthing players worked and worked for one an other and kept Reading out with Reading having majority of possession. We were eventually undone around the 30 minute mark from a Reading corner however after that Worthing created two chances of their own through Hayley Bridge but their keeper made two good saves to prevent Worthing taking the lead.
A half of not many chances and Reading having majority of possession and Worthing defending really well, half time 0-1
Second half started and Worthing again created a chance through Hayley Bridge but again the Keeper made a good save to prevent the tie levelling up and then a sucker punch for Worthing as a long range effort looped over the goal keepers head and 2-0, Reading. Worthing were then showing signs of tired legs from some of their players but never gave in and another two late goals again from mistakes from Worthing players made it 0-4 at full time.
On reflection of the game if Worthing would have managed to cut out the silly errors and taken one or two of the chances who knows what the score could of been but another gritty solid performance from the Worthing team.
