Worthing started against Itchen College in the February Super 7’s tournament at Queen Mary’s College, Basingstoke. They started the tournament very strong, however found it very frustrating in front of goal and one lapse in concentration at the back led to Itchen nicking a goal and they ended up taking all three points. However from then on Worthing kicked on and dominated the next game with free flowing passing football allowing Emily Baker scoring all four goals and winning the game against Alton 4-0. The third and final group game again was controlled by Worthing who went on to win comfortably 2-0. Worthing coming second in group A saw them come up against Portsmouth in the semi final where Worthing got off to the best start with Dan Rowe scoring straight from the kick with a great long rage effort. She also scored a goal later on in the final two minutes which allowed Worthing save passage into the final which saw them play Itchen again. After a tight game with little opportunities in front of goal for both sides the game ended up going to penalties. Itchen scored first 1-0 Worthing then scored from Emily Baker 1-1. Itchen then missed so left Worthing with the chance to win the competition and from Chloe Lelliot Worthing did just that winning 2-1 on pens.
Good day all round from Worthing’s point of view with some great football and some great goals.
