Worthing travelled to Farnborough for the second time this season, looking forward to the BCS Cup game. Sadly it did not go to plan and Worthing were beaten by a determined Farnborough team. Worthing did not start well, Beth Watson was unable to start due to feeling travel sick, Katy Begley started despite being taken out in a game Monday night and Lauren Steady started but had concerns re her ankle. None of this was conducive to a good start but the worse thing about the first quarter was the 15 penalties that we gave away due to lack of discipline over the 3 foot rule. Farnborough were one up at quarter time. Changes made a quarter time had little impact on the game and at half time Worthing were 3 a drift.
GA to GK, GD to WD, WA to GA, replacement WA brought on at half time, with very clear instructions of not to force the ball into the circle and do not give away any unnecessary penalites.
Defensively we were much better third quarter but the attack was worse, no drive in the centre court, dropped balls etc.
Fourth quarter further changes made and from 6 down we pulled it back to 2, had three opportunites to level the game which we failed to convert. Game lost.
No complaints better team on the day won.
