Hampshire League Division 2.
The second team started off very cold and frantic in attack but solid and hardworking defensively. With the score only 5-3 to Worthing after the first quarter there was a need for us to step it up. After self-evaluating their performance the girls identified the need to slow down, maintain possession and eliminate the long loopy balls down court. When working really hard in attack, we managed to take the lead in the second quarter to 10-5 but then a lapse in concentration only saw a 3 goal lead going into the second half. Still the girls’ defence was great, turn overs were made and loose balls were picked up. Saxona Woolgar got her eye in with some great shots from the edge of the ‘D’ with Beth Watson putting up some superb shots flicking the ball over the hand of an incredibly tall defender. We lead the game going into the final quarter and this is when the girls picked it up, showed how they play to come away with a 27-19 win. Players player was Beth Watson (GA).
