On a bitterly cold afternoon, Bay House came to visit Worthing College for the first time in the Hampshire League. Bay House have done very well in the Hampshire League this year just losing to Peter Symonds and Brockenhurst.
The game should have started well for Worthing as the defence made a total of 12 interceptions but when you throw nine back to the opposition you really don’t help yourself. Too many errors, penalties given away in the first quarter and the players were reminded at quarter time, things needed to improve. 13-10 Worthing at quarter time.
Unfortunately the second and third quarters were played in a similar way to the first, Worthing making too many mistakes against a good Bay House team, Worthing could not get into any rhythm and were unable to form a good lead, score at half time 26-20, three quarter time 34-30.
Coach Price was a little grumpy and frustrated at the end of the third quarter and the girls got very short shrift at three quarter time, this seemed to work as suddenly Worthing woke up and started to play the way they can, an interception from Ella Forest straight off their centre pass seemed to change to game, Worthing scored and never looked back. Worthing scored 20 goals in 12 mins to Bay House 4, Worthing running out 54 -34 which appeared an easy win but believe me, it was far from it.
