Worthing College 54 Esher College 31

Today saw Esher College visit Worthing for the BCS National Cup, a team we knew nothing about however their Twitter account told us that they were unbeaten all year so a good game was in store.

Worthing started with the same line up as Monday’s County Cup game, and it soon became very apparent that it was their shooters that had won them their games, they were very tall and accurate. Worthing started sloppy, interceptions not put into the circle and it was a very even first quarter with Worthing ending the quarter 13 – 11 up. Tactical change at quarter time put Rosanna back to GK, Beth to GA, Katherine to WA and Ella to WD. These changes worked extremely well with Worthing converting the missed shots from Esher and more pressure being put on the Esher attack. Shooting was good from Beth and they really didn’t know how to deal with Katy’s height. 2nd quarter ended 31-19.

Third quarter saw them move their excellent shooter to GD, which did work to some degree as we only scored 7 but they only converted 3 so the goal difference increased further. Laura replaced Rebecca at C.

Final quarter, they reverted their GD back to shooter and they scored a further 9 goals to Worthing’s 16.

A great week’s netball girls – two cup wins – this one certainly easier than Monday’s victory. Onwards now to play Hurst in the Sussex Cup semi final and Farnborough 6th Form in the next round of the National BCS Cup.
