Worthing 1 42 Alton 10 Hampshire League
Mom Amelia Smith
On another wet Wed we undertook the longest journey of the season to Alton College. A few changes were made to the first and second team due to only being able to take 16 players on the mini bus and the 2nd team goal shooter being unavailable. It also gave a first team debut to Sophi Quache.
As the two games were being played one after the other, it was agreed to make them 4 x 10min matches. Worthing got off to a good start with Katy Begley in fine shooting form – Worthing were 9-1 up at quarter time, however there was lots to improve as we were moving onto the ball too soon and defensively we were too sluggish. The opposition was poor sadly and the second quarter ended 18-5. Third quarter Ella Forrest took a very painful ball to the face, aggravating a previous injury, and was replaced by Laura McLaughlin, this however was our best scoring quarter as the score was 31-10 at three quarter time. The game ended 42-13 – performance will need to be stepped up a gear next week if we are to compete with the might of Peter Symonds.

Worthing 2 13 Alton 10
This was a much closer encounter than it needed to be, unfortunately our shooting was poor and court play sloppy, 3-2 up at quarter time, we never lost the lead but came mighty close after half time when we were leading 9-4, they fought back and the game ended 13-10
