WOMEN’S FOOTBALL 1ST XI V KINGSTON – H – L 2-0

Worthing College v Kingston College 0-2 ECFA Premier League.

Disappointing result after a very solid defensive performance from all. First half started as a cagey affair with Worthing defending really solidly frustrating their opponents to long ball. As the half went on it was Worthing who opened up and were playing the better football passing the ball round using the full width of the Withdean pitch to their advantage, and managed to create a few one on one changes towards the end of the half which were well saved by Kingston’s Goal Keeper.

Half time 0-0

Second half again started in similar fashion to the first Worthing defending well and again frustrating their tiring opponents to long range shots and long balls which Worthing goal keeper was not troubled by. Worthing were growing into the game and having more success passing the ball around but were only creating half chances from long range as just that final ball from midfield with a bit of quality was lacking, however 75 minutes on the clock a mistake from Worthing centre back allowing the striker to run in behind her and take it around the goalkeeper and put it away 1-0. 85 minutes on the watch another mistake from the other Worthing centre back trying to play the ball back to the goal keeper which fell short allowed Kingston’s lively centre forward to pounce and take it around the goalie and score 2-0. Worthing’s heads seem to drop from then on in and never really recovered from that. Changes were made by both teams with 5 minutes to go and Worthing did have two half changes at the death to maybe nick a point but it wasn’t to be and Kingston snatched all three points.
