WOMEN’S FOOTBALL SQUAD – HAMPSHIRE SUPER 7S

The Hampshire Super 7s tournament yesterday resulted in a 2nd and 3rd place finish for our teams. Both teams topped the group which meant qualification for the knockout stages. In one semi final was Worthing v Taunton and mirroring that on the other pitch was Worthing v Chichester. Both games were on at the same time so it was a case of bouncing around both pitches for me. Both games were 0-0 right until the dying seconds (6.58) where Worthing 1st managed to sneak one in off the far post to progress to the final. Worthing 2nds stayed 0-0 and went into sudden death penalties where Taunton ran out 3-2 winners.

Into the final we went and Taunton managed to score early on through some questionable defending by Worthing’s players. However for the next 5 minutes there was an onslaught onto Tauntons goal, with corner after corner and attempt after attempt but we never managed to succeed and on the break Taunton managed a 2nd.

A much improved display by the girls this week. Impressive performances by Emily Baker, Chloe Johnson and Clara D were great to see and hoping for that to continue throughout the squad, well done.

Worthing 1- played 6 won 2, drew 2, lost 2. F- 5 A- 6. Finished- runners up.

Worthing 2- played 6, won 3, drew 2, lost 1. F- 8 A- 0. Finished- 3rd place.
