QMC 16 Worthing College 56 mom Rebecca Farrow
Changes were made to the first team as only being able to take 16 players makes team selection difficult and a number of the first team squad were asked to play in the 2nd team to support. The first team got off to a good start with accurate shooting from Beth Watson and Katie Begley and sound defence from Amelia Smith and Lauren Steady with score 13-3 in Worthing’s favour at quarter time. Team was left the same for the next two quarters to enable the team to gel against not the strongest opposition in the Hampshire league. The girls remained focussed with the scores 27-5 at half time, 42-10 at three quarter time. A couple of changes were made at three quarter time to bring players on from the 2nd team, and pleasingly the standard of play remained the same with a final score of 16 -56
2nd Team QMC 9 Worthing College 41 mom Sophi Quache
The 2nd team were strengthened by some of the first team squad and that had a really positive impact on the remaining squad players and Worthing got off to a really positive start and were 12 – 2 up at quarter time, with some good centre court play from Sophi Quache and Katherine Heater. The good play continued with the score 18-3 at half time. Changes were made at half time to bring on Gemma and Gabbie however this had no detrimental effect on the team and the good play continued with a final score of 41-9
Off to the New Forest next week girls where a much stiffer opposition awaits in the form of Brockenhurst.
