Today saw the start of the Hampshire League with a long away trip to Farnbourough, the girls arrived eager to get out of the mini bus after a two hour journey – not too much warm up time as too much time spent in the changing rooms so we got off to a slow start, with balls being miss passed and everyone trying too hard. First quarter 5-5. No changes made just players told to look after the ball, drive towards not away from it, slight improvement made and the quarter ended 12-9 Worthing. Two changes made at half time, one a gamble bringing Beth Watson on at WA, not somewhere she had played before but this was an inspired change by the coach. Beth’s feeding into the circle was excellent, there was more control in the attack , although there were still massive gaps in the centre court, shots were going in and the third quarter ended 25-12. Fourth quarter was more of the same with the score finally 38-17. Amelia and Lauren developed a better understanding in defence as the game wore on, with Lauren getting MOM from the opposition.
Excellent start girls but lots to work on – well done
