Downsbrook Middle School on a Tuesday lunch time is much the same as any other school across the country, however today it differed slightly. 16 Worthing College L2 BTEC students were purposefully striding to their place of business, the school field. When there they set about creating a mini sporting event, 7 activities, 90mins long, 3 weeks in the planning, 16 leaders, 55 students all for Unit 20.
Longest drive, Relay race, Free throws, Penalty kicks, 50m Sprint, Speed bounce and a bowl out were the events on show and the year 4 students from DMS enjoyed everything. Each individual was able to find something that they excelled at, this showing how well planned the event was.
Gold silver and bronze scores were awarded for each competitor at each event, with some looking to gain just the enjoyment of trying a new skill and others to max out on Golds!
Year 4 teacher Miss Price was very impressed and said “they are really organised and the children are enjoying it a lot.” High praise indeed from a PE trained teacher. The school were so impressed with the work being done by students from both college and DMS that they redirected the tours for the prospective parents on the open day towards the field. A great advert for students from both establishments.
So congratulations to all of the students involved in running and planning the event, a huge success in terms of both participation and delivery. Back to college and time for a personal review!
