NETBALL 1ST AND 2ND TEAM – HAMPSHIRE INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT – 3RD PLACE

U19 Hampshire Invitational Tournament

Wed saw both first and second teams off to Southampton Netball Centre for the Hampshire Invitational Tournament. It was an extremely cold day but the girls were really looking forward to it. All the best netballing colleges in Hampshire were there and the first team tournament was a round robin, the 2nd team, due to the number of entries, two pools and then play offs and finals.
The first team played the best netball of the season and really were a joy to watch, beating Barton Peveril 11-10 in the first game, losing by one goal in a very physical game to Itchen College 8-7, followed by a very tense game against Brockenhurst which again they lost by one, 9-8. They then beat Peter Symonds College convincingly 6-1, to then draw 7-7 with the eventual winners Farnborough and finished off the afternoon with a 7-3 win against Portsmouth Grammar School. They finished the tournament in 3rd place. Great netball, great team spirit, the day only marred by ankle ligament damage to Lily.
MOM – the whole team

The second team had been hit with injury to Lauren Steady and illness to Ella Forest, which meant that Maddie Burnage (x football and current rugby player) came along to enable the team to take part. The girlS were up against some really stiff opposition and it was just not the shooters day initially as we failed to score in the first game losing 6-0 to Itchen College. Goals game in the second game and in a hard fought game against Farnborough, where Maddie went in to play GD the team lost 11-9. St Vincents were next and under the coaching of Lana (I was umpiring) the girls won 7-3. Sadly the remaining games were losses but their heads never dropped and they gave their all.

MOM – Maddie Burnage (who will be in the netball academy next year !!)
