Worthing College v Peter Symonds Netball Hampshire League 1st team Lost 23-19

Worthing netball 1st team were against a strong Peter Symonds team who are undefeated in the League this season. The match was very well contested and Worthing’s defence in particular were making lots of turnovers.  At the end of the 1st quarter it was 7-4 to Symonds with both teams struggling to create many chances in the circle.  Worthing made a few errors in the 2nd quarter particularly in the centre third with a few wild passes – score at half time was 18-13 to Symonds.  A good team talk at half time by Coach Nikky Gatland resulted in a much improved performance in the 2nd half.  Both Lana and Aby were composed in the shooting circle and shot well. Amelia, Shannon and Lauren all defended brilliantly to restrict the opposition’s chances and there were some nice drives and feeds into our cirle from Katie and Katherine.  Worthing won the 3rd quarter to trail 18-13.  In the final quarter Worthing continued their good play and again won the last quarter by 1 goal to finish at 23-19 to Peter Symonds.  A great 2nd half performance by the whole team, a real improvement and determination to do well.  Player of the match was Shannon Brightman, great interceptions and kept her cool at all times!
