Womens Football 2nd Team Hampshire 7’s

After poor weather conditions put this weeks 7’s tournament in doubt, the girls got the go ahead and made the trip to Queens Mary College. Having 4 group games before potentially the Semi-Final and Final. It was a slow start to the group with a 0-0 draw not helping either side. The girls worked together deciding their own tactics and ran out 5-0 winners in game 2 with Eloise Paine grabbing a hat-trick and Zoe Rendall netting 2. The 3rd game saw Worthing come up against a very strong Itchen side who eventually were too strong and ran out 3-0 winners. With one game remaining and the girls needing a victory to qualify, they showed great courage to pick themselves up and battle through a difficult 1-0 victory through an OG. Great work to progress through to the semi’s where Worthing were unfortunately eliminated after a 1-0 defeat to a well disciplined Sparsholt team. The 3rd place play-off saw the girls meet Itchen again and the game ended with Itchen breezing to a 4-0 win. A harsh but fair lesson learnt. A great effort to finish 4th place and excellent individual performances from Brooke Marshall and Shercarla Lurring!
