Worthing College U19 Blues played their first fixture of the season at WRFC against a
strong motivated and talented SEEVIC side.
In the early encounters the Blues were out muscled and fell behind to some excellent
structured play from the visitors. Scoring 4 tries in the first half Worthing were pleased that
only one had been converted to leave the score 22-0 SEEVIC.
Worthing came out much the stronger in the second period and made strides forward into
the visitors half but were thwarted time and again. There was the belief that the Blues had
scored but the official deemed the ball held up scrum 5m.
SEEVIC were gaining in strength as the half grew old and managed to score three tries in
the last 15mins to make the final score Worthing 0 SEEVIC 39.
On completion of the match the Referee Mr S Goodwin said “This is the best team I have
ever seen at this level, organised and accurate.ʼ Praise indeed.
Well Worthing can look to next week and the U18 NatWest Cup fixture away at Eastbourne
College. The U18s looking to build on the great start made last week v Steyning and
avenge the defeat of this week for the U19s.
