Long journey to Queen Marys College where once again the sat nav took us to a garage compound ! however this time we were not to be fooled and found the facility relatively easily. A quick warm up and the teams were on court in bright sunshine, the first team changed due to injury to Lily Ross Thomas at hockey the night before, with Shannon Brightman reverting to GD, Katie Lankshear to C and Abi Lane going up from the 2nd team to play WA. the first quarter started poorly with mistakes across the court from both teams and poor shooting with the quarter ending 4-2 in Worthings favour. Worthing had lead due to some excellent defensive work by Shannon Brightman.Changes were made with Abi Lane going to GA, Lana Brynes to GS and Saskia to WA . 2nd quarter improved slightly although the attack was still not working well Worthing led at half time 11-5. GA and GS swopped at half time and a better third quarter at the attacking end and with Shannon’s tireless working in defence at the other meant Worthing went in 19-6 at 3/4 time. The team was left the same for the final quarter and the final score was 27-10. Shannon was righly named man of the match for an outstanding performance both in leadership as well as defence. Victory would come much easier with everyone giving 110%
